AGHS Football defended their Mountain League title on Nov. 1, 2024 by defeating Mission College Prep 42-7. This is the second year in a row that AGHS Football took home a league title—defeating Paso Robles last year.
The game’s first quarter ended in a tie (7-7). They gained traction in the second quarter and by halftime they led by one touchdown (21-7). By the end of the game, AGHS led by 35 points—a personal best in point differential this season—and won the game.
Caleb Clark (‘26) and Garrytt Lloyd (‘26) both scored receiving touchdowns (TD). Rocco Koory (‘26) ran the ball into the end-zone for 6. Gavin Cecena (‘25) caught the ball in the end-zone, earning the team 6 more points. Zach Tayman (‘26) scored two rushing TDs, obtaining twelve points for his team. Dustin Reed (‘26) kicked six field goals, adding six points to his team’s total score.
Overall, the team had 49 tackles. Koory and Derek Brockenborough (‘26) had the most tackles—both having a total of five tackles. The team totaled 371 all-purpose yards. Tayman had the most yards—157 rushing yards and total yards. Quarterback Sam Wulff (‘25) threw three touchdowns and had 120 passing yards.
AGHS Football went undefeated in league with a record of 4-0. They move on to the first round of CIF Central Section Football Championships, competing against Clovis West High School this Friday (Nov. 8, 2024) at home at 7 p.m. The theme of the game is Black Out.
