Many students noticed campus changes at the beginning of the school year. The biggest project done was the science wing area, which was renovated after a gas leak needed to be repaired.
“It had some trees in it, but it was really just kind of dirt and gravel, and it was a very unclean area. When we had to dig it up, I saw an opportunity to clean it up,” Principal Brad Grumbles said. “So we added astroturf, some benches, cement, and decomposed granite.”
These renovations created a new place for students to hang out.
“There are a lot more students sitting out there at the benches and hanging out. So to me, that makes it somewhat of a success,” Grumbles said. “If I had all the money in the world, I would have designed it a little bit differently, but since money’s tight, we tried to put ideas together as best we could.”
The culinary building, finished in April of 2024, was the most recent large update to campus. Since then, the only renovations done were small.
The library was repainted and new windows were added, and classrooms are getting small updates as well.
“[Students] will probably see some improvements like updating and painting [as well as] little beautification projects,” Grumbles said. “Kind of like the science wing, just as we go through and clean all those areas up so that people have places to sit.”
School funding determines the viability of new projects.
“There’s a bond right now on the voting ballot. That will dictate if there are more facilities projects, but the one that is the big project is the practice gym,” Grumbles said.
For now, students can enjoy the area in the science wing and look forward to more projects coming to our school.
