AGHS Football defeated Clovis West High School 27-22 on Nov. 8, 2024 to advance to the CIF Semifinal .
AGHS Football started strong with Caleb Clark (‘26) rushing into the endzone with 7:27 left in the first quarter. Dustin Reed (‘26) kicked a good field goal, giving them the lead in the first half (7-0).
With 5:09 left in the second quarter, Noah Webber (‘25) intercepted a Clovis West throw. About a minute later—4:26 minutes left in the second quarter—Clark had a 43 yard touchdown (TD). Reed kicked another good field goal, and AGHS led 14-0. However, with 1:45 left in the second quarter, Clovis West answered with a rushing TD. Clovis West rushed for a two-point conversion—making the score at halftime 14-8.
With 6:49 left in the third quarter, Webber picked up a Clovis West fumble, allowing his team another possession. Clark rushed another TD with 5:23 left in the third quarter. AGHS went for two-points, but couldn’t get the ball into the endzone, which made the score 20-8. With 1:40 left in the third quarter, Clovis West threw the ball into the endzone and kicked the ball into the uprights. The third quarter ended 20-15.
Clark got another rushing TD with 8:56 left in the fourth quarter, and Reed kicked a good field goal, scoring an additional seven points. Webber also got another interception with 6:38 left in the fourth quarter. The quarter ends with Clovis West scoring a TD and kicking a good field goal with 1:16 left. The game ends in another AGHS victory (27-22).
Overall, the team had 69 tackles, with Jack Folkrod (‘25) leading with 11 total tackles. The team had 482 all purpose yards, with Clark leading with 272 all purpose yards.
This win allows AGHS Football to move onto the CIF Semifinals. They will play away against Bakersfield High School—who is ranked number 1 in CIF Central Section—on Nov. 15, 2024.
