The AGHS Athletic Boosters program was formed in the 1950s to raise money for a multitude of campus sports, supplementing the district budget. Since 1950 it has remained an active part of the campus.
The majority of the district’s budget for AGHS athletics goes to pay the coaches’ salaries. The rest of the funding comes from the Boosters, various events, and yearly fundraisers.
In 2024, they purchased a $70,000 van for transportation, and, about 2 years ago, they donated money for new uniforms for the teams that needed them.
Fans attending the games and buying items from concessions are supporting the Athletics and teams to help make the athletics at AGHS the best that they can be through the added funding from fans watching the games.
“We run football concessions, which brings in probably about $30,000 profit for [the Boosters],” Boosters president Brandi Pasquini said.
The annual auction and dinner in the spring is another fundraiser to support AGHS’s athletic programs. The other main funding source for the Boosters is the AGHS merchandise sold at football games during the fall season run by AGHS parent Michelle Benson.
“I joined [Athletic] Boosters when my daughter was at AGHS,” Benson said. “I wanted to get involved, and [it] just happened that the merchandise position was [in need of] someone. I started in 2019.”
Athletic Boosters also aids every team with specific fundraising needs, utilizing social media to advertise the games.
Although the Athletic Boosters program was founded over 60 years ago, it still has a vital purpose in maintaining a high level of commitment.
