During the lunch break on Thursday, February 13th the small tree next to the blue bench near the softball field fell on the blacktop. The tree was planted as a memorial for the lives that were lost on 9/11. The tree had been dead for a while and fell due to the strong winds.

Justin Anaya—a grounds maintenance worker—was called only a few minutes later to pick up and take the tree away to clear the surrounding area.
Principal Brad Grumbles hopes to plant a new tree soon to replace the one that fell.
“We are looking into other options that can fit in that space. The problem is it has a small box for a tree there, so only a certain type of tree can fit,” Grumbles said. “So we’ll have to look into somebody that knows what type of tree could survive in that space.”
