This March, the Arroyo Grande High School Theater Company will perform the play “Cymbeline” by William Shakespeare. The play follows Imogen, a princess falsely accused of infidelity, as she navigates deception, exile, and war. Disguises, mistaken identities, divine intervention, and at least one severed head lead to a dramatic resolution of loyalty, forgiveness, and reconciliation. The show is set in the Gilded Age of the 1880s, where marriage is sometimes more about power than love.
“Cymbeline is a play that combines elements of tragedy, comedy, and romance,” Joy Avant (‘27), who plays Imogen, said. “It creates a blend of all of Shakespeare’s works and makes for an entertaining watch.”
The show will run for two weekends in early March. There will be evening performances at 7 p.m. on March 7, 8, 13, 14, and 15, and one matinee at 2 p.m. on March 9th. Tickets are $17, with discounts for senior citizens ($14), students/children ($12), and LMUSD faculty and staff ($7).
