Many things happen on a high school campus that most people don’t discuss. Students walk by talents and opportunities daily without knowing it. But how are they supposed to know the talent they are walking by when they cannot find out?
“When I walk around campus, I guess I have never thought about what other people’s lives are like outside of school,” Riley Mclellan (‘27) said. “I mainly just think about my friends or what I’m doing after school. But I think that would change if I knew more about them.”
That’s when a school podcast can come in handy. The podcast looks further into the talent of this school and sees all of the light around campus. AGHS’s podcast —The Nest podcast— is even more special because it focuses on specific people and teachers and dives deep into what’s happening on campus.
“We have a few different ways we like to start the podcast for the teachers and the students; we like to highlight what they like to achieve here and how they go about their time at AGHS,” podcast co-host Ryder Brown (’25) said.
The Nest also covers fun events that happen on the AGHS campus and students who achieve over the average point and excel at everything they do.
“When I got interviewed, it was very easy and chill. We just talked about how I am performing not only academically but also outside of school. They dug into how I manage being successful in both categories,” Dally Settle (’27), an interviewee, said.
Some people get scared or nervous when asked to be interviewed because they don’t know what to expect. However, the interviewers try their best to make the interview as comfortable as possible.
“You should not be scared if you get asked to be on the podcast or worry about being prepared at all. But most of all, don’t be afraid to tell the truth to the people on the podcast because everyone there is super nice and welcoming,” Settle said.

The Nest does everything it can to cover everything that it thinks is important around school. They want to dive deep into the talents here on campus.
“So the main goal is to find out about everybody’s day, and how everybody’s day can be different even though we are all on the same campus. We also try to focus on teachers as well as sports,” Brown said.
The podcast also covers teachers and what they do outside of teaching. Some students may not even consider their teachers’ home lives, while others may think this is important. Knowing your teachers’ home lives can enhance the learning experience by creating a relatable classroom environment. When students understand the teachers’ beliefs and how they look at things, it can create better communication and a sense of community.
“I feel when you have a relationship with your teachers it can make a deeper understanding of who your teacher is and can mainly develop a better relationship in the classroom with them,” Lucy Afsari (’27) said.
Overall, the podcast covers all of the things to know why people are the way they are. It also shows what this school truly has to offer beyond the passing other students and going past just the surface conversation and truly getting to know everyone.
