Jaden Gutierrez is an Arroyo Grande High School student who draws landscapes, buildings, and creates his own architectural designs. Gutierrez is inspired by modernism and minimalist architecture; however, he includes a lot of detail in his landscapes. Gutierrez is looking forward to pursuing a future in architecture, and he is one of AG High’s many talented students.
There are many difficult parts of creating an original artwork or architectural design. “The hardest part is figuring out the layout, floor planning, and figuring out what’s logical” Gutierrez said. Not all of Gutierrez’s artworks are completely original, some are sketches of real world structures. “I think what [inspired] me was visiting the major cities. Los Angeles or San Francisco and stuff. Just seeing architecture.”While many of Jaden’s artworks are 2d, real architecture always has to occur in the context of 3d. “I have to think reasonably within space in design.”Gutierrez says he draws from references to practice, but he’s starting to switch to his own designs to innovate more.“I like modernism for architecture, simply defined buildings, and stuff like that.” Gutierrez said.
