Advisory was first thing in the morning for years, but this school year it was moved to after second period and students have differing opinions on the change.
Shaylynn Stephens (‘26) prefers the old Advisory schedule.
“It just [felt] more natural,” Stephens said. “Now it feels less like Advisory and more like a whole other class.”
Layna Cotton (’26) also prefers Advisory first thing in the morning.
“It [was] easier to get to Advisory, it [didn’t] feel confusing,” Cotton said.
Though some students believe that Advisory after second period feels less natural or confusing, other students prefer the new schedule.
“It’s better after second period because we also get a break,” Amanda Pyles (‘24) said.
Fiona Swanson (‘24) also prefers having Advisory after second period. She feels more productive after going to two classes.
“I can prep myself in Advisory instead of having nothing to work on at the beginning of the morning,” Swanson said.
Despite students’ differing opinions on Advisory’s placement in the school day, most agree that the class was better first thing in the morning.
