Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. This location in Pismo Beach is near McDonald’s and the shopping outlets. Providing a semi-quiet place to focus on work and a source of caffeine with various bakery products, this location can be popular among students. This location has a meeting room available to anyone who reserves it, and is open until 9 p.m. daily.
Oak Park Starbucks. This location is between the shopping center with Planet Fitness, Grocery Outlet, Carl’s Jr, and various businesses. Most Starbucks provide the same benefits, but some locations close earlier than others. The location on Oak Park stays open the longest, closing around 7 p.m. daily. Like most coffee shops, the beverages are more expensive to buy than make at home, but the Starbucks Rewards program comes in handy if you’re a frequent customer. The Oak Park location provides several options for seating, as well as free wifi and outlets.
Panera Bread. Panera Bread is located on West Branch Street, between the Walmart shopping center and the Oak Park plaza. Panera Bread is convenient because it is open late, closing at 9 p.m. daily. This location provides free wifi and is usually not busy or loud. Warm food and coffee are available for purchase, ranging around $6 to $12.
Denny’s. Denny’s is on the list because of its hours. This location is open 24 hours, providing free wifi and booths to sit in (for customers). Located in Pismo Beach, it’s a nine-minute drive from the high school. Usually, this location is pretty desolate, unless you’re seated next to a loud family.
Cafe Andreini. Located in the village, Andreini’s is a popular spot to study for students. At some hours, the cafe can be busy, making it hard to find a seat. With little distance from the high school, this location can be convenient, although closing at 4 p.m. The best time for students to study at this location could be the weekends or late-start Monday mornings. Free wifi is available, and there is an arrangement of tables, chairs, and even sofas.
Arroyo Grande Public Library. This location provides a quiet place to study, accessibility to computers, and wifi, as well as the obvious; books and reading materials. The Library is open until 5 p.m. and has many places inside and outside to study quietly and uninterrupted. One note about this location is that they’re closed on Sunday and Monday.
Lopez Lake. One of the more unique locations, Lopez provides a place to study without distractions such as your phone or social media. While a 17-minute drive from AGHS, it can be a scenic location to channel your inner transcendentalist. Keep in mind that there is spotty internet service, making it difficult to work from a phone or laptop.
Grover Beach. Grover Beach is one of several California beaches that are driveable (with a pass). Open until 10 pm, this beach at the end of Grand Avenue can be convenient for students looking for a place to study in their car; on the beach, or in the parking lot.
