For the next two weekends, the Arroyo Grande High School Theatre Company will perform Shakespeare’s “The Comedy of Errors.” While the original play is set in Ancient Greece, AGHS Theatre has decided to put an 80s spin on the classic tale. “The Comedy of Errors” follows the confusing adventures of two sets of identical twins: Dromio of Ephesus and Dromio of Syracuse, and Antipholus of Ephesus and Antipholus of Syracuse. As they share the same name and face with their counterparts, characters and audience members experience confusion and amusement as the mayhem unfolds on stage.
“[The show is] incredibly funny,” Antipholus of Syracuse actor Izzi Arave (‘25) said. “There’s chaos everywhere, [but] there’s [also] serious moments. There’s love, there’s comedy, there’s grief, everything. It ticks all the boxes.”
“The Comedy of Errors” has evening performances at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 8, Saturday, March 9, Thursday, March 14, Friday, March 15, and Saturday, March 16, as well as a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m. on March 10. Tickets are $15, with discounts for senior citizens ($12) and students/children ($10).
Tickets are available now in person at the Clark Center box office or online through their website: https://clarkcenter.org/shows/aghs-theatre-the-comedy-of-errors/.
