The Hispanos Unidos club hosts a Community Needs Drive at Arroyo Grande High School. Donation boxes were placed around AGHS on March 18 and will continue to accept donations until Friday, March 27.
The Hispanos Unidos club aims to “Unite Hispanics and non-Hispanic students to provide representation and cultural awareness”. More information about AGHS’s clubs is available on the school website.
This is the second of two events the Hispanos Unidos club hosts each school year. In November the club puts together an Ofrenda to celebrate Dia De Los Muertos.
During the “Community Needs Drive”, anyone is welcome and encouraged to drop off any basic needs or necessities to help families in need in our community, such as toiletries, clothing, feminine products, and more.
Many students on campus are passionate about giving back to a community so close to home.
“A lot of people struggle to get things since I was in that place once I wanted to give back because I know how hard it can be for people,” President of the Hispanos Unidos Club, Melisa Mendoza (‘25) said.
The Hispanos Unidos club is in contact with a local social worker who will be directing donations to families in need.
