The seniors at Arroyo Grande High School are getting closer and closer to graduation. At this point, many seniors claim to suffer from “Senioritis,” a name for the drop in academic motivation as they near the end of high school. There are many new adventures to be excited about, like college, starting a career, or even just being on their own for the first time. But, before any of that happens, there is a summer after graduation! Here are some ideas for the best summer after high school, and endless possibilities for fun adventures for graduating Seniors while they are still in town together.
- Road trips
Road trips are always fun, but doing a road trip with one’s closest friends and/or family before you start your own life would be even more special. You can go practically anywhere and make it fun. Some great places could be national parks, theme parks, or just visiting other family and friends.
2. Beaches
There are so many amazing beaches in California, and each one is unique. You could spend a day at the beach relaxing with your friends, or try something you’ve never done before, like parasailing, diving, kayaking, and so much more. For the people going out of state for college or work, this summer is the perfect time to soak up as much of what California can offer as you can.
3. Community service
If you’d rather spend your time doing something for the public, community service would be a great way to spend your free time this summer. You could really make a difference in our community, and it would look great on resumes! You could feel a sense of accomplishment helping the community, and having fun while doing it.
4. Work
Working and saving money would be a great way to spend your summer. Whether you’re going to college or starting a career, and especially taking a gap year, working hard at your job would be a great start to kick off your summer right.
5. Internships
If you want to do more work than play, taking part in an internship is a great way to see what you are interested in, and it would look great on job applications! There are some internships that don’t take a long time, so you could still have lots of time to have fun and relax this summer.
6. Bucket list
A summer bucket list would be the perfect thing to do this summer after graduation. A bucket list is when you make a list of all the things you want to do during a period of time, and you check off the activities as you finish them. It’s a great way to have fun with your family and friends, and it makes you get out and actually do them since it’s in a list form, so there’s no way to forget.
Seniors, don’t forget to make this summer the best summer ever, and have tons of fun! There are limitless possibilities this summer, so make the most of the time you have left at home.
