The bone-tiring thought of staying up for 24 hours and doing as many things as possible has stayed in my mind to the point where I can’t help but attempt the task. I want to thank the people who wrote, “Weller and Langstaff Present: The Pompous Proposal for a Plausible Perfect Prom Party for Poverty Prone Poor People Preventing the Profound Payment of 947 Pesos” for the motivation.
10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.:
The challenge was simple, complete as many tasks as possible in 24 hours starting from 10:00 am on Sunday to 10:00 am on Monday. The first 4 hours of the 24 hours I spent baking an array of deviously delicious baked goods, it was the dense brownie which I used dark chocolate chips for a richer taste which took me from 10:22 all the way through to 11:00 am. Then some crispy and chewy chocolate chip cookies took longer than expected from 11:00 to 11:45. I also baked my specialty and favorite thing to bake for my lovely parents: banana bread, but I used three instead of five bananas which gave it less banana flavor, but still enough to taste. Only made better by the walnuts and mini chocolate chips that added texture and flavor. The banana bread took from 12:06 to 1:44 pm
2:00 p.m. to 3:37 p.m.:
Then I attempted something I hadn’t done in a long time which was to complete Minecraft in a speed run I’ll try to condense. The mission is to go and kill a dragon in another dimension… that’s it. I started my challenge. Starting great because it was near a village that was good for finding resources (beds, iron ingots, etc.) to kill the dragon. I found iron and crafted a bucket which I needed to enter another dimension known as the Nether, the hell of this game, to get the material crafted with another material would allow me into the dimension the dragon is in known as “The End” (fitting name for the place you finish the game in). I got the materials and all I needed was to get out of the Nether while running from the monsters, fiends, brutes, devils, those dastardly Piglins, and the Ghasts who shoot flaming orbs, which would mean my downfall. Whilst escaping, I was struck by one of the ghastly monsters, on fire. Thinking I wouldn’t make it out, I leaped from what I thought was nearby shrubbery to ultimately fall and die losing all my progress leading me to quit and never find the dragon.
What only seemed to be a small failure in this challenge was only a warning to my future self.
After failing at what I considered an easy task, I tried to do something much more lax for the next task, which was to watch a movie. The movie was ¨Dune Part 2¨ and to put in the words of my mother, “It was a good movie”. It was a long 3 hours & 45 minutes although I will say I got the chills in some parts of the movie. We started at 3:01 p.m. and ended at 5:43 p.m.
I walked to a close friend’s house to deliver some of the goodies I made that morning. I left my humble abode at 6:02 and didn’t come home until 9:08. I didn’t leave simply because of how ofa great time we had just talking, since we don’t often get to have one-on-one talks.
I also completed another task I had which was just to find a dog and pick them up and I did it at my friend’s house with their little Boston Terrier. Cute little bugger. It happened at 6:37 p.m. and he was very calm.
10:12 p.m. to 11:22 p.m.:
After I left my friend’s home I made some homemade pasta sauce with a can of cherry tomatoes and three fresh Roma tomatoes blended with minced garlic and onions. I added water into the blender and got all the tomato sauce out of the blender then let it boil until it was a good red color. Then I seasoned it with salt, black pepper, fresh-cut basil, and oregano. I then cooked pasta and meat then boom, I had made dinner for the next 3 days. I’m assuming.
I then went climbing one of my avocado trees as a simple quest. I did it but somehow the gods had a slight disillusion towards me for whatever reason and I slipped and fell to the ground. 11:32 to 11:35
After the embarrassing loss of climbing a tree and then falling, I decided to do something productive around the house since I’ve just been messing around so far. I cleaned the kitchen, then swept, and mopped around the whole house leaving what used to be a mess of tomatoes and veggies around the kitchen a pristine kitchen right after. It only took me from 11:37 p.m. to 11:52 p.m.
I then tried to read one of my favorite books ¨The Illiad¨. Reading was making me fall asleep and I wasn’t going to fail. It took me from 12:00 a.m. to 12:34 a.m.
Now I decided to fix my mom’s car wheel since it had low air pressure. I wanted to check for a puncture but it was nothing just low pressure. So my dad and I took it to the gas station to fill the air back into the tire. It was from 12:31 a.m. to 1:30 a.m.
At this point, all I had to fight off was sleep which was done through caffeine. 400 milligrams simply wasn’t enough. I tried to keep myself entertained by drawing what I thought was a nice landscape but turned into drawing a bipedal cat for the sake of my sanity. This took from 1:33 a.m. to 1:53 a.m.
I then decided to befriend one of my greatest inspirations as a kid, Remi the rat. He gave me a lot of advice and many critiques but it only took me from 1:55 a.m. to 2:20 a.m.
After many hours of not sleeping or resting and having an ever-growing grudge against myself for not finishing Minecraft, I decided to beat a game called Red Dead Redemption 2 but that took me from 2:23 a.m. to 4:54 a.m.
Fighting off the urge to just take a nap seemed to slowly be overcoming me. but I still live and hopefully, could stay awake to cross the finish line no matter how sleep-deprived I was.
I slowly watched the time go by and watched the hours getting closer to 10 and finishing my 24 hours. I worked out to just find a positive to keep me up. It worked. I made it to 10:00 a.m.
I tried my hardest to stay awake. I even did an ice bath, but nothing worked. I tried to stay awake, but before I realized it, it was 10:00 a.m. on Monday and I could finally rest.
Do not attempt this.
This was not made with professionals or paramedics nearby.
Just don’t.
