Every Tuesday and Thursday, young musicians spend their lunch expressing their love for guitar. These teens make up the Guitar Club.
Guitar Club president Sebastian Barbir (‘25) tries his best to create an open space for teaching less experienced players.
“If anyone comes in and asks for help, I will sit down and do my very best to help folks learn,” Barbir said.
Barbir’s love for guitar propelled him to take on the responsibility of restarting the club.
“The previous club president bailed on us right at the start of [2022],” Barbir said. “After the club advisor departed, I found [Mr. Tuller] and kept things going.”
The new advisor Brent Tuller has been playing guitar for about 30 years and enjoys sharing his classroom as an outlet for students to express themselves through guitar.
“[Guitar Club] gives [students] a place to just come and hang out with like-minded students,” Tuller said
Guitar Club allows students to express their connection to music with other students.
“When I play the guitar, I feel more connected to the music,”Guitar Club member Andrew Depew (‘27) said.
The members of Guitar Club are diverse in experience and personality, yet put aside their differences to enjoy playing guitar.
“Everybody in [Guitar Club] also plays guitar, and when [Sebastian’s] there he can teach me,” Depew said.
The Guitar club presents a unique opportunity to involve students with fellow musicians and learn from those with experience, all while rocking out to guitar.
