AGHS Girls Volleyball celebrated their seniors—Madison Mierau (#4), Sadie Munro (#5), Lainee McCune (#7), Kinsie Colbourn (#10), Lydia Dobbe (#12), Elizabeth Trimble (#13), and Norah Mosqueda (#16)— before their game against Templeton on Oct. 15.
All seven girls played volleyball throughout high school—Munro joined AGHS volleyball her sophomore year. McCune played all four years on varsity. Dobbe and Mosqueda played three years on varsity. Trimble, Mierau, Munro, and Colbourn played on varsity for the past two years. The girls’ dedication to the program is something worth commemorating.
Senior night kicked off with a ceremony wherein each senior walked on to the court accompanied by family members while a bio of experience and thanks was read aloud.
Mierau walked out first with her mom, dad and sister. Her favorite memory was carving pumpkins with her team during a team bonding event.
Next, Munro walked out with her mom, dad, and two sisters. Her favorite memory was catching a thief at an away game who stole former teammate Riley Glanville’s wallet in Santa Barbara.
McCune walked out next with her mom, dad, brother, sister, and brother-in-law. She thanked both her siblings for helping her excel in her volleyball career
Colbourn walked with her mom, dad, brother, and grandparents next. After she graduates, Colbourn aims to attend a four year California university and study engineering.
Dobbe and her mom, dad, three sisters, and niece walked out after Colbourn. Her favorite memory was playing kickball in the rain on the softball field during a team bonding event.
Trimble walked out next with her mom, dad, brother, two sisters, and brother-in-law. She gave a nod to her sister, Maddie Talley, who coached Trimble her freshman and sophomore year on JV.
Last, Mosqueda walked out with her mom, dad, and brother. Her favorite memory was when former Coach Chip used Goo Gone on the brand new gym floor.
During the game, the AGHS girls won their first set 25-13. They used momentum from the first set to win their second set 25-10. They had a close third set, but ended up losing it 23-25. However, they recovered and won the game in the fourth set 25-17. This game kept their position for second in Mountain League.
Although an important occasion, this wasn’t Girls Volleyball’s last home game. The team returns home to play San Luis Obispo High School for their last home game at 6 p.m. on Oct. 22.
