Athlete of the week Noah Webber (‘25) is a varsity defensive back, who began playing football freshman year but previously played flag football.
Q: What is your favorite aspect of playing football?
A: Probably just the people, all the work [the] sport [requires], the dedication and traveling, [and] being there with [teammates] and having that bond.
Q: What is your greatest challenge with football?
A: Sticking with it. I like the people enough to where it makes it worth it.
Q: How do you manage sports and academics?
A: Doing as much as I can with the time I have. I’ll leave my house at 6:30 am, come home around 6:15 pm, [and] then do my homework until 10 pm.
Q: What’s your favorite memory of playing football?
A: When I came back from my exchange year, everyone was still there for me. That was pretty awesome.
Q: What keeps you motivated to keep playing?
A: I don’t want to let [the team, my family, and my friends] down by not playing.
Q: Have you ever been injured from playing football?
A: Not anything serious. I’ve had tendonitis under my knees and shin splints.
Q: Do you hope to keep playing in the future for college?
A: I’d rather focus on academics in college. I think [playing football in college] would take too much of my time to where it’d be hard to balance out school.
Q: What’s your greatest victory or key moment with football?
A: A key moment would be last year against [San Luis Obispo High School]. I got put in and I tackled this guy. He was 240 pounds, and [after I tackled him], he did a front flip.
Q: What is your favorite post-game meal or snack?
A: [My favorite snack is a] peanut butter Nutella sandwich.
Motivated by his family and teammates, Webber continues to work hard throughout his final season of high school football.
