San Luis Obispo Shabang 2026 headliners
As people around the world prepare for Coachella, Lollapalooza, and Stagecoach, locals on the Central Coast wait in anticipation for the annual Shabang Festival, located at the Dairy Creek Golf Course in San Luis Obispo. The event offers over 50 artists May 2 and 3, ranging in multiple genres. After anxious waiting, the headliners for the event have been announced and fans can now listen to their music and do their research on the artists before attending the event.
Chris Lake, one of the main headliners of the event, is a veteran DJ that has contributed heavily to modern house music. His sets typically blend tech house, progressive house, and EDM, creating some of his signature sounds with bass-heavy tracks and tension building drops. His first major hit “Changes” was released in 2006, and since then he has flourished in his music career. Throughout the years, he’s had many collaborations with major artists and labels, including Mau5trap and OWSLA. In 2017, he founded his record label, Black Book Records, which is where he has produced many of his most recent hits. Now, residing in Los Angeles, CA. he is making his way up the coast to show locals his passion and love for music.
The Backseat Lovers incorporate a lot of emotion in their indie-rock releases, focusing on the hard realities of growing up. Formed in Provo, UT. in 2018, the group grew popular from their single “Kilby Girl,” which sprung up the Billboard’s rock and alternative airplay chart. Their music often explores the situations of evolving relationships and self acceptance, relating to teen and young adult audiences. Their songs often incorporate raw, nonsugarcoated lyrics building a loyal and rising fan base over the years. The name “The Backseat Lovers” comes from an adolescent memory of the members being piled in the back of their mom’s minivan before their high school prom. Locals cannot wait to bring their friends and loved ones to hear them play, even that girl that’s “Still a Friend.”
Paul Armand-Delille (Polo) and Alexandre Grynszpan (Pan) are a French music duo that connected in Paris, France in 2012. They began working together to produce music separately under their DJ aliases– Peterpan and Polocorp. In 2013, they released their debut EP together. Since then, the two have worked together to produce new music of a house-electronic, disco, upbeat, whimsical, and tropical nature. They try to use sounds from all different continents to form their music into something unique. The duo has certainly stayed popular, with 3 million monthly listeners on Spotify and 2 billion streams globally. Music festivals aren’t foreign to Polo & Pan; they even played Coachella in April, 2025. Fans who plan to see them play at Shabang are most likely hoping they’ll play their most popular songs: “Nanã Caravelle” and “Canopée.”
Magdalena Bay is an American alternative-pop duo– Mica Tenenbaum and Matthew Lewin. The two met in high school and have been lovers for almost a decade. They started in Miami, FL. in 2016, but have since moved to Los Angeles, CA. Tenenbaum and Lewin focus on synth-pop, electropop, indie-pop, alternative-pop, and experimental-pop in their music. Fan favorites include: “Killshot,” “Image,” and “Chaeri.” While the couple currently has two critically acclaimed studio albums, three EPs, and three “mini mixes,” they also focus on unique music videos for many of their songs and it is what they’re most known for. Both Tenenbaum and Lewin have diverse talents; Tenenbaum focuses on lead vocals, synthesizers, and songwriting, while Lewin focuses on guitar, base, and keyboard playing, as well as production and backing vocals. Many listeners believe that their duo name came from the Magdalena Bay located in Baja California Sur, MX. but real fans know that their duo was named after an administrator at Lewin’s former workplace.
