Arroyo Grande High School seniors Maddie Kasper(22) and Avy Newton(22) have officially signed their commitment to UC Irvine, continuing their successful water polo careers together.

“I can’t wait to play in college with her, we do this pregame handshake before every game,” Kasper said. “It will be really fun to continue that for the next four years.”

Friends since 7th grade, Kasper and Newton are looking forward to continuing their friendship in and out of the pool, despite the challenges they may encounter.

“It’s intimidating to go to a D1 school, we’ll have to work really hard to keep up with the rest of the team,” Kasper said.

While the pair is sad to say goodbye to their teammates and school, they are ready to take their waterpolo career to the next level.
