Position: Outfield and Pitcher
What were your biggest accomplishments or highlights that took place during a game, or even practice?
“I would say in my whole high school career, the biggest highlight I’ve had in a game would be starting the CIF game versus SLO last year. In [that] game, I shut down SLO through six innings of pitching. We ended up winning before moving on to the second round of CIF.”
How did you help your team succeed beyond stats?
“I helped my team succeed beyond stats by hyping my teammates up, so everyone is motivated during games. Often, the dugout gets quiet, but I try to hype everyone up so we have energy and are engaged in the game. In baseball, being locked-in makes a huge difference in the final score.”
What was a challenge you faced and how did you respond to it?
“A challenge I faced was tearing multiple ligaments in my leg and having to go through rehab. I responded by working hard every day for eight months and completing exercises until I was finally able to run without pain again.”
What motivates you to keep pushing forward in your sport?
“What motivates me to keep pushing [forward] in baseball is the fact [that] I want to play division one baseball at [some] point and hopefully get drafted. This is a goal I have had my whole life and I intend to keep working hard till accomplishing it.”
In one sentence: what does being named Athlete of the Week mean to you?
“To me, it means I am being recognized for my hard work.”

“I want to thank my dad for always pushing me to be better and stay focused on my goals.”

What were your biggest accomplishments or highlights that took place during a game or even practice?
“ [A] Triple play versus Garces [Memorial High School] in CIF during my sophomore year. I hit a home run versus Mission [College Prep.] last year… more to come this year.”
How did you help your team succeed beyond stats?
“I was a team captain last year and have always tried to lead by example. I am also a team captain this year.”
What was a challenge you faced and how did you respond to it?
“I tore my hamstring and was out [of the game] for six months the summer before [my] junior year. I rehabbed super hard and pushed through some setbacks, because of the goal of my season in mind. I worked super hard in [physical therapy] to be ready for last season and now my hamstring is fully healthy again.”
What motivates you to keep pushing forward in your sport?
“I’m going to play in college, so I want to keep getting better and better to be ready for that.”
In one sentence: what does being named Athlete of the Week mean to you?
“It feels good to be recognized and I’m very grateful.”
