Wednesday’s event involved teamwork to win. The T.E.A.M. event included events where students were tested on teamwork, endurance, accuracy, and munching.
The first event tested teamwork. 4 students worked together to get a balloon across the gym using only a tarp, and one student—located at the other end—had to pop the balloon without using their hands. The seniors won this event, earning their class 125 points.
The second event assessed 4 students’ endurance, and this event was a relay. The first student had to “swim” across the gym using a scooter board. Once the first student crossed over the line, another student took off back across the gym on a tricycle. Once the second student crossed the line, two students took off—one student holding the other student’s legs—doing the wheelbarrow. The freshmen and sophomores raced against each other in the first round. The sophomores crossed the finish line first, but were disqualified for cheating because a participant used her legs while “swimming” on the scooter board.
The freshmen moved on to the next round. The juniors and seniors raced against each other in the second round, and the seniors won and advanced to the third round. The seniors and freshmen raced against each other in the final round. The seniors won, earning another 125 points for their class.
The third event forced students to use their accuracy skills. Two students participated, with one student throwing a cup and the other trying to catch it in another cup. The seniors caught about 16 cups, winning an additional 125 points.
The fourth and final event was the Munchy round where students had to eat 5 gross foods the corresponded with class colors—a dill pickle wrapped in a fruit roll-up (green), blue raspberry slurpee (blue), watermelon with sriracha and tajin on it (red), creamed corn with gummy worm on top (yellow), and greek week nachos, which had blue takis, nacho cheese, canned peas, and hot tamale candy in it. Participants couldn’t begin eating their food until the one before them finished their food. The juniors won, but got disqualified because they had someone in the competition who didn’t sign up, which was clearly stated in the rules and wasn’t allowed. This led the seniors to win because they were the next closest to finishing.
