Holloway’s Christmas Tree Farm has served San Luis Obispo County since 1962. The farm was put up for sale earlier this year.
The farm opened for the 2025 season on Nov. 17 and is open Mondays through Fridays 12-8 p.m. and 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
Holloway’s employs 62 people to help with jobs like flocking, cutting, netting, shaking and loading trees, wreath making, customer service and managing quad rides.
“I have figured out [being on the farm] is work, but it doesn’t feel like work,” Holloway’s Employee Josh Gutierrez said.
Gutierrez has worked on the farm for 12 years. He likes being at Holloway’s because it makes people happy to be in the holiday spirit and pick out their tree.

Madison Temper has been helping at Holloway’s for seven years and works during pre- and post- season.
Working at Holloway’s has been one of her favorite jobs because the staff “works like a family.”
“Holloway’s Christmas Tree Farm is about the people,” Owner Carl Holloway said.
Carl and his wife Debbie decided in September of this year to begin trying to sell the farm.
In an Instagram post from Sep. 3, the Holloways announced:
“It’s time for us to retire, spend more time with our family, and embrace the next chapter of our lives.”
Though the future of the farm is still to be determined, business has carried on as usual. The farm has seen annual returners and new faces. Customers visit the farm for more than just buying trees.

Farm activities include: swings, a seesaw, animal feeding, photo opportunities, quad rides, cutting one’s own Christmas tree, and pre-cut trees and wreaths for purchase.
This holiday season will continue on as any other for Holloway’s Christmas Tree farm will be open until Dec. 24.

The Christmas Memories our family have made since Mr Holloway went from teacher at AGHS to raising Christmas trees are forever treasured Appreciate his family carrying on the tradition. Sending Holloway family Happy Retirement. My kids are in their 50’s now, but watching them pick out the tree, their dad getting that saw and cutting it down to the fragrance that filled our house was magical. Thank you!
