Senior night for Arroyo Grande High School boys basketball took place on Feb.10, 2026 at 6:15pm. The senior boys that were celebrated were Garrett Marin, Jagger Young, and Raffaele Agate.
Along with the celebration of the seniors, there was a youth night where all kids out of high school could come support the AGHS basketball teams for free.
The ceremony for the seniors was short but sweet. Agate was first and walked out with his host parents Karen and James Deering.
“My favorite memory is the victory of the Atascadero Christmas tournament and the opportunity to play in an all american high school level basketball team,” Agate said.
Marin was next and walked out with his parents Erin Dasman and Pepe Marin, his grandpa Richard Dasman, his brother Gavin Marin, and aunt and cousins.

“My favorite basketball memory is when we won the Carpinteria tournament last year and all the van rides in the many seasons of my time here at AG,” Marin said.
Young was next and walked out with his parents Karen Schiller and Paul Young, step mom Stephanie Conn and step sister Mariella Conn.
“My favorite basketball memory is winning the Atascadero Christmas classic tournament and getting MVP,” Young said.
Each player wrote a small speech to be announced while they walked, sharing their favorite memories of being a part of the team, thanking those who helped them with their basketball journeys, and their future plans when they graduate high school. The coach also wrote a small speech and thank you to the players.
This game they played against Atascadero High School, it was a close game. Atascadero had the first points on the scoreboard but AGHS came back quickly. The final score of the game was 64-76, although the AGHS boys put up a good fight they didn’t end up winning the game.
The stands were full of supporting staff, families, and friends celebrating the seniors and taking advantage of the youth free night.
“The best part of senior night was the student section; a lot of people came out and showed support that I didn’t expect would be there so that was nice,” Young said.

It was a bittersweet celebration. All their hard work and dedication to the AGHS basketball program finally paid off.
