After losing many seniors to graduation last year, the boys varsity tennis team rebounded with sophomores Alex Klapper (‘28) and Corbin Brown (‘28) named to the First Team All League in doubles. Kip Jezierski (‘27) and Devon Carrington (‘28) were named to the Second Team All League in doubles, and Lucas Sidun (‘28) was named to the Second Team All League for singles.

“I think we did really good [this season] for the experience we had. Most of our lineup is sophomores. We have two juniors on our varsity lineup, so without any seniors, it is a little difficult to manage,” Brown said.

The boys look to build on this past season’s success by building stronger connections and improving their overall skills for next season.

“Against some teams that are mostly seniors with more experience, we were still able to make connections with each other. We’re going to be able to build and grow for the next few years,” Sidun said.

The boys have high, but achievable, expectations for the years to come.

“I mean, I think we hope to win the league next year,” Klapper said. “Ideally, we want to be number one in the league. We should have a few good years because a lot of people are going out at other schools,” Brown states.

Varsity and JV boys Tennis Coach and AGHS alum Mekayla Landers is impressed with the boys’ performance this past season and looks forward to their future.

“This year was a really good building year for us, and my best going into this next season,” Landers said. “Having this experience at such a young age, I feel like they could build on their fundamentals, and they’re super motivated and delighted to this next season, resulting in much more confidence. They’re going to surprise a lot of people with what they’ve done,” Landers said.
