What is a memorable moment you’ve had while teaching?

“One that stands out is a project that students completed last year [Spring 2025] where they filmed a parody about Napoleon Bonaparte that was partly inspired by Love Island and partly a Queen musical, and partly historical drama. It was very well done and we ended up showing the video in most of my classes. It’s great to see students’ creative sides!”

What skills do you hope students take away from your class beyond the subject itself?

“Critical thinking skills are one of the main skills I am hoping students will take away from my class. I want students to ask questions and be curious about the world and the information they are being presented with. I hope that students continue to be critical thinkers not just in school, but also beyond school as well.”

What do you think makes this school unique?

“AGHS has such a long history in our community and I think this community in general is pretty tightly knit so many people who still live in AG went to school here—having such a rich local history and being connected to the community so deeply is really great.”

If you weren’t a teacher, what do you think you’d be doing?

“I used to say that Law School was going to be my back-up plan to teaching, and if I was younger and still thinking of switching careers that might still be true, but now I would say a travel agent or doing something with travel and working abroad most likely.”

What is one thing students might be surprised to learn about you?

“This probably isn’t all that surprising, but I love to travel. I try to travel somewhere internationally at least once a year—in November 2025 I went to Morocco—and take a road trip, usually with my dogs. It’s my goal to visit all 50 states and every National Park at some point in my life. I’m pretty close on states. I think I only have about 8-10 left!”
