AGHS Student Athlete Ruben Servin (‘27) found success on the school’s varsity baseball team.
Servin began playing baseball at a young age. He grew up watching his dad play in men’s league softball games and fell in love with the game from there.
“Starting from a young age, I knew [playing baseball] was something I wanted to do, and just have fun with it,” Servin said.
Servin not only enjoys the gameplay but also the connections and friendships made in the sport.

“Some of my most memorable moments are just team dinners every week with all of the guys. Those are super fun to hang out and grow as a team,” Servin said.
One of Servin’s most memorable personal achievements was his first home run on AGHS’s varsity team last year – an impressive accomplishment as a sophomore.
Servin is not only a star on the baseball team, but also a star academically; he’s found ways to balance school work and baseball practice, while still making time for his friends and family.
“I make sure to work hard and focus in class, get a good breakfast, go to practice and the weight room, and then have around 3 hours to do homework before I go to bed,” Servin said.
Servin has been positively impacted by many different people throughout his life, but his father was one of his greatest influences.
“[My dad] is always pushing me to be the best player I can be and the best person I can be,” Servin said.
Another influential person in Servin’s life was a coach he had, Bryan Matson, who is no longer local but has always supported and helped Servin in any way he could.
Servin has optimistic hopes for the future of AGHS’s baseball program.
“This season, I want to win the league. We are doing well right now, so it is a very reasonable goal,” Servin said. “I like our team this year and have high hopes for the season,” Servin said.
Servin hopes to play Division I baseball in college to see if he can make a career out of his talent.
