AGHS is replacing fluorescent lighting in the office and the student locker rooms with energy-efficient LED lights. These changes are planned to improve visibility, reduce energy use and cost, and modernize campus facilities.
The installation process began over spring break; some lights were replaced in the office’s conference room to compare the LEDs with the fluorescent lighting. AGHS’s Lead Custodian, Jay Delory, was in charge of overseeing some of these installations.
“You can totally see the difference between the light fitted with the fluorescent bulbs and the light fitted with the LED bulbs,” Delory said.

The goal of the LED bulb installation is to improve the daily experience of teachers and students around all campus facilities by supplying better work conditions with brighter and more reliable lights.
“Some of our classrooms already have LED lights fitted, but there are newer ones that are even more energy efficient that will replace the old ones,” Delory said.
This improvement to the campus ties in with other plans to modernize the campus, like instant water heaters that replaced the gas water heaters. New improvements like these are a part of a bigger plan to make the school more environmentally friendly and cost-efficient.
