1. If you could accomplish one anything what would it be and why?
“If I could accomplish anything, it would be to get, at least, a bachelor’s degree in materials engineering. I know it’s a basic answer but I could do so much to help my community and other communities; I could make pacemakers, make airplanes safer for travel, and environmentally safer alternatives for plastic products. My life– my community– matters so much to me, so being able to use my education to help as many people as possible would be my biggest accomplishment… a major stepping stone for that [to happen] would be furthering my education.”
2. What motivates you to succeed?
“I am a very family oriented person so being able to be someone my little sister can look up to and someone my siblings can look towards as someone who’s done amazing things. Not because I want people to idolize me, but because I want my parents to be able to be proud of me and the things I accomplish.”
3. Are you living authentically? Are you living for yourself or others?
“That is a very complicated question, so my answer won’t be absolute, but society has a big impact on who I am, whether it’s conformity or going against expectations. I do feel like I live for myself and I try to express myself in ways that aren’t exactly typical in self-expression in the ways I dress and the ways I act and the way I look. I try to live as authentically as I can, but there are things I don’t feel comfortable expressing about myself; not because I’m not proud of who I am, but because I’m not confident in certain aspects of myself yet.”
