A gas leak at Arroyo Grande High School on Thursday morning prompted evacuations of multiple classrooms and emergency services to the 900s wing of the campus. The incident was reported shortly after 10 A.M, leading to the administration quicking moving all people away from the scene while firefighters assessed the affected area.
First responders evaluated students and teachers who were near the classrooms.
According to district officials, several individuals reported symptoms consistent with gas exposure. Four students and two staff members were transported to a local hospital for further evaluation. Others were monitored by responders on scene or later by staff after students in the nearby building were questioned about symptoms.
Fire personnel and technicians from the Gas Company isolated the source and confirmed that repairs were complete later that morning. As a precaution, the section of campus was closed for the rest of the day. Classes in that area were temporarily relocated. However, as of today, most classes in the affected area have resumed as normal.
