National FFA week takes place every February, typically the week following George Washington’s birthday. The celebration recognizes the agricultural history of the country; Washington, our first president, was a farmer.
The National FFA Organization observes the holiday in order to recognize the agricultural integrity of the United States and promote Agricultural literacy in its members and their surrounding communities.
“National FFA week is a great opportunity to get others involved who don’t understand the multiple opportunities FFA brings to the table,” Dally Settle (‘27) said.
AGHS’s chapter celebrated National FFA week February 17-20. The entire department participated in activities in the class room and at lunch.
Chapter officers planned and executed events: Noah Boghosian (‘26), Ashlyn Collins (‘26), Madison Aanerud (‘26), Caleb Franco (‘28), and Alexis Head (‘27). Chapter advisors Sara Carney, Lacee Holloway, Josh Rodrigues, and Shanon Lemons oversaw the events.
Every agriculture class joined in the celebration, including all levels of science, floral design, horticulture, and agriculture mechanics.

The festivities began on Tuesday with an in class Blooket, with questions about the FFA and our Ag department, as well as general agricultural questions. The winner of the Blooket in each class period earned candy.
On Wednesday, students decorated clothes pins during class to pin positive sayings and vibes onto others. At lunch, the planned activity was volleyball, but due to the rain it turned into watching Rio in Holloway’s room. Attending Ag students received pizza for lunch.
On Thursday the activity was a duck hunt. Paper cut outs of ducks were hidden in every class, in different spots every period. Successful hunters took home candy.
The week concluded with friendship bracelet making in class and a quesadilla bar at lunch.

Additionally, there was a salsa contest, in which staff members made salsa for the chapter officers to taste and judge.
The winner of the Salsa contest was Jeremy Adams.
“It felt good to beat Principal Grumbles and I’m ready to take him on again next year,” Adams said.
