The AGHS Improv Team, Grin and Bare it, presented its Alumni show on Friday, April 17 hosted by the birthday boy Donovan West (‘27). The show followed a familiar formula of separating the performers into two teams– for this specific show: team Dono and team Van– then having them compete in various games of improv, eventually leading to a final winner and a laughing crowd.

The show had 10 games; The Dating game, New choice, Pan left pan right, Party Quirks, Mike D, Freeze, Voices from beyond, Fairy tale countdown, Ding buzz, and Big Dump.
After each team performed in a game, the crowd would cheer for which performance they thought was better. The fifth and tenth games were group-games, where one team out-performed the other. Team Dono pulled through with a victory at the end of the games.
A notable part of the show was the inclusion of AGHS Improv team alumni. The 14 of them ranged from recent graduates to longtime graduated members.
“It’s nice to see my friends again,” Alumni and Assistant Coach of the improv team Mickey Danza (‘21), said. “I haven’t seen some of these people since before COVID.”
While a lot of the focus of the show was on the alumni, it was also about the birthday boy.
“I wanted to host the show because it was on my birthday and gave me an excuse to be self absorbed,” West said.
While West did get to have his spotlight, the point of the show was all about the performers, current or past members, working together to entertain the crowd.

“[The competition] is all about collaborating with your teammates,” West said.
The show went by smoothly with laughter often filling the room.
“The show went great and was really fun,” West said.
Grin and Bare it loves entertaining through the art of improv.
“More people should come see Improv,” Danza said. “It’s good to sit in a room and watch other people make a rocking product, it’s awesome.”
Anyone who missed this show can see the team’s senior sendoff show, hosted by Luke Dodds, on May 15.
