Friday, April 17, AGHS Leadership hosted their annual car show. At this event, students bring their cars, trucks, or even golf carts to compete

against other vehicles in their category. The student body then gets to walk around the blacktop looking at the pride of their peers while eating hot dogs made by the cafeteria staff.
The car show is one of the many different events that leadership uses to unite the student body and allow different people’s passions to shine through.

“[The car show] connects a different type of kid who normally hasn’t participated in many events on our campus,” Leadership Teacher Shannon Hurtado said. “[Leadership’s] job is to get all kinds of students involved in things [and the car show is] engaging for a whole different population on our campus.”
The vehicles that students bring to the show are often representations of their identity and hard work.
“It’s always nice seeing what other people have built,” Car Show Participant Tommy Rowley (‘26) said. “The variety of all the cool cars show everybody’s personalities.”
Students like to observe the many vehicles that aren’t commonly put on display.

“I just like seeing all the cool cars, especially in the sports car section,” Car Show Participant Nolan Pap (‘26) said.
Many of the cars that people pour their effort into aren’t always usable in standard settings.
“It’s fun seeing everybody bring out their fun project cars that they can’t always take to school,” Car Show Participant Cash Gillan (‘26) said.
Overall, the AGHS car show allows many students to show off their prized vehicles and connect with the school and its students. Any students who want to continue showing off their vehicles can go to events such as the 40th Annual Pismo Beach Classic Car Show.
