When Donald J. Trump speaks out about policies or what he intends to do with his presidency, it’s smart to expect the opposite to be done. In the beginning of his 2024 campaign he spoke very confidently about being able to lower gas prices, grocery prices, and how he won’t get us into wars like Kamala Harris would.
Being almost 2 years into his second term as president of the United States of America, he has increased gas prices, involved our military in an active war against Iran, and lowered taxes for wealthy people and raised them for poor people.
In April 2024 gas prices were seen around $4.76 per gallon in California, and the average gas price in April 2026 has climbed all the way up to around $5.89 per gallon.
Trump did a press conference in 2024 saying that he has no intention of starting or joining a war but Harris would if she won the primary election.
“To make [Kamala] president would be to gamble with the lives of million people she would get us into a world war 3 guaranteed because she is too grossly incompetent to do the job she’s not going to be able to deal with president” said Trump (dailymail news).
Trump has heavily contradicted himself when he recently had been asked a question about the war with Iran, asking if he would bomb them again and his response was quite intense.
“Sure, without question, absolutely,” said Trump.
The confidence and the way he said that is so disturbing when he is so light to agree to bomb a country when we got into a war we shouldn’t have ever been a part of in the first place.

Trump also claimed that he would have lowered grocery prices as well.
“The chart below tracks year-over-year inflation, comparing prices each month to the same month a year earlier. While overall inflation has eased from its 2022 peak, many household costs remain elevated.” CBS News price tracking

This graph proves that in the year Trump has been in office grocery prices have increased.
One of Trump’s biggest projects that he announced during his running of president was the creation of the Big Beautiful Bill. Essentially the tax part of the Big Beautiful Bill is cutting taxes for certain people and changing who pays what.
The Big Beautiful Bill lowers company taxes so people and businesses have more money. It’s essentially lowering taxes for business owners so they can grow their business and money, and hiring them for lower income people. The rich get richer, poor get poorer.
Voters during the 2024 election said that Trump in office would be better for the economy. Not even halfway through his term it’s been proven time and time again that Trump wants people with money to gain more, not caring what happens to the rest of the income classes, he joined a war voluntarily starting world war 3, and has increased most day to day essentials like gas, groceries, and energy.
Trump’s word should mean close to nothing after how many times he has contradicted himself, broken the law, and covered up history. When do we start to see the difference in where humanity starts and what’s “best for the economy”?
